Commission of the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision Service has completed a comprehensive review of nuclear and radiation safety at the Volgodonsk nuclear power plant.

The audit committee Rostekhnadzor Russia confirmed that the security status of VoAES complies with the rules and regulations in the field of atomic energy, and also took a decision to grant a license to operate the second power plant.

Since 2001, the block number 1 with VVER-1000 produced more than 60.7 billion kWh of electricity to consumers in Rostov and Volgograd regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories. The units with VVER reactors are operated in Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Ukraine and China. Currently under construction are 8 units with VVER reactors in Russia and 5 units - abroad. For 45 years of VVER-type reactors have proven to be cost-effective and safe power plants.
