"We were forced to start reducing pressure in the pipe leading to Ukraine", - explained the representative of the group.

"We were ready to meet the Ukrainian people," - Kupriyanov said, adding that Gazprom has offered Ukraine out in the most difficult for the gas winter.

Recall, on the night of Sunday, Gazprom has received an official refusal to the Ukrainian side of the last sentence in Russia. It was the signing of the contract on the transition from the second quarter of 2006, at market prices for gas supplies.

On Saturday, the day Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government and Gazprom to supply gas to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2006 on the conditions of 2005, if before the end of 2005, the Ukrainian partners sign a contract for the transition to market prices from the second quarter of next year.

As previously reported, the supply of Russian gas to Ukraine on Jan. 1 will end at 10 am Moscow time.
